Kedist Germaw is Ethiopians for Obama Person of the Week. Kedist is a health care administrator and a technologist in the neuron-science field. She is a fierce voice for equality and peace throughout the world and a member of numerous organizations who aim to further her twin passions. She is a member of peace x peace and a founding member of Ethiopian women for peace and development. She is affiliated with the Washington Interfaith Network, a grass roots organization who works with issues such as homelessness, senior citizen concerns, and afterschool care. Kedist believes strongly that Senator Obama is the one candidate who can unite all Americans to look beyond our differences and tackle the issues that face us irrespective of race, creed, or religion. She believes strongly in Senator Obama’s commitment to helping people in all corners of our society who struggle to make it to the next paycheck or the next meal. Obama says “a name should not be to your success”, this has inspired her not only to work tirelessly to get him elected, but permeates throughout her life. Kedist has a child of her own--she understands the value of an inspirational leader.
She believes that she has found a candidate who can inspire her—and all children—to never limit themselves and to have the audacity to think they can scale the highest mountains. Kedist is an unbelievable volunteer who has put every ounce of energy into getting Obama elected. She was one of the original foot soldiers of Ethiopians for Obama and has inspired countless other Ethiopians to join the movement. She is the true embodiment of Yechalal!
